Post Office
Loan Service Post is routed through the Garrison and is usually delivered once a week to the Loan Service Community Centre.
If you want to send UK mail, Loan Service has access to the post office at the Chit Chat Community Centre.
The British Army in Brunei comprises an infantry battalion of Gurkhas supported by 1563 Flt RAF Puma helicopters. The tropical climate and terrain is well suited to jungle training and the Jungle Warfare Division run courses for all members of the British Army.
As members of the UK Loan Service, we can access some services on the UK Garrison at Seria, which is about 100km from the Loan Service Community Centre.
Brunei Hive
You will find the HIVE indispensible during your time in Brunei. They are on the ball with essential UK and Brunei updates, travel advice and general information. Please note, the posts are aimed towards the Garrison and some will not be relevant to Loan Service.
Messes
Loan Service Personnel are entitled to join their relevant mess at the Garrison - The Officers’ Mess or the Warrant Officers’ and Sergeants’ Mess.
The Officers’ Mess offers a fee-based Associate Membership and will include access to events on the Garrison such as the Winter Ball, or welcome BBQ.
The Warrant Officers’ and Sergeants’ Mess do not pay a membership fee but are invited to specific functions.

Sports
Loan Service are able to join the Garrison team sports such as the rugby or netball teams. You are also able to avail of the swimming pool, indoor gym, splash pool for small children and sports complex. The base also has volley ball, basketball, squash and tennis courts available for use.
Garrison Thrift Store
The Garrison Thrift Shop is located at Tuker Lines Seria, just across the road from the NAAFI. The shop is a volunteer-run charity shop where you can take your unwanted household items, clothing and toys. When your items sell, you will receive 75% of the total amount, with the remaining 25% going to charity.
NAAFI and Chautari Club
The NAAFI is open seven days a week. The shop provides many UK and European foods that are unavailable elsewhere in Brunei. UK magazines and small household items are also available. Loan Service Personnel may purchase alcohol from the NAAFI on presentation of their UK military ID. Do not buy for anyone who is not entitled or you and Loan Service as a whole, will be penalised. There is a Standard Chartered ATM machine available at the NAAFI. Beside the NAAFI is the Junior Ranks Club with a small Bar and Restaurant called the Chautari Club. Here you can purchase good quality meals for sit in and take-away.
