Post and Packages
As at May 2026 BFPO services to Brunei are still on an Ad Hoc basis due to the Middle East crisis.
Receiving Mail
BFPO 11: Loan Service Post is routed through the BFB Seria Garrison and is usually delivered once a week to the Loan Service Community Centre.
Your BFPO address will be:
Service number, Rank, Name
UK Loan Service Team
BFPO 11
The alternate postcode is BF1 3AG if the BFPO 11 postcode is not recognised.
Where mail contains any goods, regardless of value, it must have the Post Office's signed CN22 Customs label form attached to the outside.
You can reclaim the VAT for goods purchased in the UK and sent overseas.

Sending Mail:
If you want to send UK mail, Loan Service members have access to the post office at the Chit Chat Community Centre in Seria. Before you visit the post office, check that it is open.
Each entitled person is only able to send back 20kg of parcel post from Brunei via BFPO per year (20kg per adult) with a ration card. Ration cards can be applied for on arrival. The allocation runs Jan - Jan each year so ensure you plan ahead. This entitlement is not uplifted at End of Tour.
Returning items to online retailers does not affect your annual allowance.
Dried Grocery Items in Outgoing Mail:
Dried grocery items of any kind are not to be sent. Only exceptions are listed below.
Each entitled person is allowed to send tea and coffee, subject to the below conditions.
Each parcel containing tea or coffee can be no heavier than 1kg per parcel.
Tea/coffee is not to be mixed in with other items. Only tea/coffee in the parcel.
A max of 2kg per entitled person per month is allowed. This will be recorded on your ration cards and the computer systems, so please do not try to send more than your allowance.
Customs decorations must be filled in correctly for official use. Please do not get caught out falsifying this document, as each parcel gets x-rayed at customs and they will find out.
Each parcel you send will come off your 20kg entitlement for the year.
Remember any parcel sent is not for sale. It is for personal consumption or a gift and must meet the gifting policy from HMRC.
Always present your Ration Card at the BFPO counter.
Disciplinary will be taken against anyone found to have contravened the above instructions.
First or second class stamps can be used for letters, and you should consider bringing a supply of stamps with you. Parcel postage can be purchased using the Royal Mail website, via SA LST or BFPO counter in Seria.
