Navy Away Day
The Naval contingent spent Saturday 8th June with Freme Rainforest Lodge for a fun away day, to promote cohesion within our small team. All 6 naval families from Loan Service and the naval family currently on the Command and Staff Course at the Defence College were able to take part.
After arrival at the Rainforest Lodge, we were given a lovely morning tea and local snacks at the Rainforest Lodge. After a quick safety briefing, we took a longboat ride up Sungai Temburong, surrounded by one of the oldest rainforests in the world, with hornbills flying overhead. We visited 2 beautiful waterfalls where we could paddle and swim. When you stop to relax the fish start to nibble your feet giving you a lovely pedicure.
We then had the option to kayak, tube or raft back down the river. Most people chose to raft, but a couple tubed or kayaked. It was another relaxing way to enjoy the peaceful surroundings of Ulu Temburong National Park. Back at the Lodge we were treated to an amazing local lunch, which was very much appreciated after a long morning in the water. After lunch, it was time for ziplining and for the little children there was rock painting. Needless to say while the children enjoyed zipping, it was some of the adults who had more goes than they were allowed!
Thanks to the Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity (RNRMC) who awarded us the funding to create such an amazing experience.
