Dogs in Brunei
Whilst bringing pets into Brunei is not impossible, please seek guidance from the Department of Agriculture.
Certain types of dogs are not permitted in Brunei.
Pet Kennels UK are a trusted and widely used door to door service provider for animal movement to and from Brunei.
Ensure you read LSSO 114 prior to your arrival and apply for approval from the relevant RBAF Garrison Commander to keep the dog in your home. You will need to erect and maintain a suitable fence around the property at individual cost.
It is possible to foster or adopt cats and dogs whilst in Brunei. If you decide to foster or adopt a dog, then you must comply with LSSO 114.
Pet insurance is available to those at BFPO addresses through Petplan.
Dog Licence:
Dog Owners are required to have a dog license in Brunei to protect the pet and its owners. The license costs approximately BND$8 (inclusive of serial number tag provided by the government) and must be renewed annually. Currently these are only available in person at Municipal Department payment counters. Please see link here for opening hours.
Chapter 60 at Section 4 of Dogs Act states that owners found guilty of failing to register their dogs will receive a BND250 fine or 14 days in prison for a first offence, and a BND500 fine or one month in prison for a second offender.
