Defence Global Practice

DGP is a virtual practice based at DMS Whittington providing a service to LSP and their eligible dependants. All SPs are to ensure they register with DGP on assignment. Dependants are encouraged to register to maintain an accurate health record. To request to be registered please get in touch with the DGP admin team. Please keep the practice informed of any significant changes in your health so they can keep your record up to date. It is also essential to register the birth of any babies born in Brunei with DGP so that they can get an NHS number.

  • The DGP acts in an advisory role in conjunction with the healthcare that you are receiving in Brunei. It can offer general advice, guidance on whether your care is meeting UK standards, and provides authority for healthcare outside the MOU.

  • DGP does not hold a budget and any advised course of treatment outside of the MOU remains at the budget holder’s discretion.

  • DGP cannot dispense medication.

  • All medical information will remain confidential.

Screening and Reviews.

DGP advises patients to ensure that all required screening is up to date prior to moving overseas.

As a registered patient, DGP will inform you of any NHS screening that you are due, and cordinate a pathway for you to receive it. This may mean having the test in a local facility in Brunei, or facilitating the test if you are travelling back to the UK. Any questions should be directed to the Clinical Team.

In addition, if you are managing a chronic disease, you must continue your reviews in Brunei to ensure you are both stable and supportable in location. DGP can remind you when your next review is due. Once your review is complete, please forward any updates to the Clinical Team.

Occupational Health including JMES will be managed by the DGP remotely. On occasion you may have to return to the UK for specialist review. If any condition could impact on your JMES please contact the Clinical Team.

Vaccinations.

Please ensure that your family is up to date with the NHS vaccination schedule before moving overseas. You will also have received the Brunei specific vaccinations before travelling. If you have not had any of the routine vaccinations before moving overseas, please make the DGP aware.

Childhood vaccinations will be offered on Brunei’s national schedule. Catch up vaccinations will be offered on your return to the UK where appropriate.
