Departures

The procedure for leaving Brunei is not difficult, but you will need to prepare thoroughly, and be ready for unexpected issues.

6 months prior to departure, SA LST will send you a Departure Instruction, including a proforma for you to give your preferences for flight, hotel and freight dates, a checklist and a Transfer of Residence link (TOR) the latter is vital to ensure no customs issues are experienced. The advice within the pack provides the essential details needed to prepare as well as an idea of what to expect.

Spouses, don’t forget to apply for your National Insurance credits and get the form stamped in the office, if you are eligible. You can also apply for a Good Conduct Certificate, if relevant at a cost of $50.00. This will help should you require Disclosure and Barring Certificates (DBS formerly CRB) for work or volunteer status on return to the UK.

Allowances on Departure/Leave Impact

It is important to note that should you intend to take leave immediately prior to your departure, the GAO will cease your LOA and OSLA allowances. Your allowances stay in payment until your last day in office only. Please ensure you optomise your leave balances prior to your final month.

Handover Takeover Preparation

All personnel are to ensure they build up to date HOTO notes that explain the “What and How”, they are to be stored on sharepoint with a link sent to both XO and SA LST. One Note Notebooks are a great tool for HOTO.
